Meghan Bell AIA

Meghan enjoys finding new ways to connect people by designing housing communities that integrate gathering spaces and outdoor spaces to encourage interaction between community members.

  • I’m from  Rhode Island.

  • My education  BA, Brown University; MBA; Bryant University; M.Arch, Boston Architectural College

  • My earliest design memory  My parents built a new family house when I was around eight years old and we visited lots of open houses to get ideas for our house. I LOVED going to all these house visits, learning about different architectural styles, and talking about what we liked and what we didn't for our house.

  • I’m drawn to design because  I'm passionate about finding unique ways to address the needs of users and working with holistic approaches that integrate structure, systems, and aesthetics.

  • A place that has affected me  The Getty Center in LA. The integration of the architecture into the site, the beauty of the materials used, and the simplicity of the forms create a beautiful and calm space.

  • My favorite aspect of working with clients is  Really learning to listen and work to understand what the client's goals are and helping them realize their vision is a really special feeling.

  • I’m inspired by  traveling and seeing how different communities solve problems like sea level rise, city congestion, safety, providing green spaces, and developing new housing systems and options through innovative design.

  • On my playlist  John Legend, Bleachers, Phish, Go-Go Penguin, The National

  • If I could snap my fingers and become an expert in something, It would be  a tie between becoming fluent in Spanish and playing golf.

  • The craziest thing I’ve ever done is  quit my job in commercial real estate banking and go to architecture school to pursue a design career. It's also one of the best things I've ever done.

  • The best piece of advice I've ever been given is  advice from my folks: There will always be someone smarter, faster, stronger than you and life isn’t fair; as long as you are true to yourself and strive to be your best you will always find successes.
