Xingyi's work is informed by in-depth research and design studies. Having a clear understanding of the client's needs and the project goals are key to how he contributes to the team.

  • My education  Tianjin University, Bachelor of Architecture and University of Michigan, Master of Architecture

  • Any community service?  Yes, voluntary community ADA design inspection and surveying conducted in college.

  • Why PCA?  PCA provides a dynamic and inspiring work environment. It is extremely resourceful, especially for young professionals.

  • My earliest design memory  From my early childhood memory, I remember trying to build a skyscraper with LEGO blocks.

  • A space/place that has affected me is  Fallingwater designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It convinced me that architecture can grow out of the earth like a tree.

  • My favorite aspect of working with clients is  You can learn a lot of knowledge outside your architectural "information cocoon."

  • What building or place do you wish you designed, why?  My own house. Because it feels like the epitome of my career, both technically and financially.

  • I love Cambridge because  It's the place where two world-class universities are located as well as having waterfront access to the Charles River. What more could you ever ask for?

  • SketchUp or Revit?  Rhino + Revit!

  • Favorite book  A Global History: From Prehistory to the 21st Century

  • The craziest thing I’ve ever done is  I walked barefoot on gravel and sand for three hours through sand storms at the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan.

  • My best vacation  Cancun Mexico for Christmas in 2018!
