Located within Portsmouth’s Downtown Historic District, Mamma Luca brings new energy to a historic building through an interior design intervention that celebrates connection, hospitality and place. Working closely with acclaimed Chef Mario LaPosta, PCA designed the space as a warm, inviting environment that complements an authentic Italian pizzeria, cucina and bar while respecting the character of its historic setting.
Inspired by a modern coastal aesthetic, the interior layers warm wood tones, natural stone, clean architectural lines and refined finishes to create a sophisticated yet approachable dining experience. Thoughtful details, from the open bar to the wood-fired pizza oven, reinforce a sense of craftsmanship while maintaining an open, welcoming atmosphere.
Designed to encourage gathering, the restaurant strengthens its connection to the surrounding streetscape, inviting the community in.
