Scarborough Downs, built in 1950, was a horse-racing track that hosted hundreds of races over the years with its final race in 2020. With acres of plentiful land for development and the local town management seeking to re-purpose this celebrated property, The Downs is now being transformed into a mixed-use destination, a New Town Center, in partnership with the developers, local citizens and the PCA design team.
The design of the residential, retail and mixed-use component—as well as the master plan for the New Town Center, PCA’s scope of work—will become the connector to the entire live, work, play, eat and shop experience. It will serve as an activated center that brings everyone together, benefiting the entire community.
