Program

City of Boston Compact Living Policy, inclusionary housing, transit-oriented

The Indie reimagines compact living as a catalyst for affordability and quality of life. Developed in alignment with the City’s Compact Living Policy, the project offers a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units, supported by shared amenities that foster connection and everyday living. Twenty-five inclusionary units further expand access to housing across a range of incomes.

Grounded in this approach, the project extends beyond the building to reframe its surrounding context. Transforming a vacant warehouse and parking lot, The Indie brings new life to an underutilized site at the intersection of residential and industrial uses. The building helps shape an emerging neighborhood with a walkable, transit-oriented design by prioritizing bicycles, ride-share and an intentional Transportation Demand Management strategy. Streetscape improvements, including new trees, rebuilt sidewalks, and pedestrian amenities, strengthen the public realm for residents and the surrounding community.
