In 2018, the City of Boston launched the compact living pilot program, allowing developers to offer smaller units on the market that would ultimately increase affordability and build community with more spaces for people to connect outside their apartments.

Dave Snell discussed PCA’s experience with the program in current projects including LBC Boston’s Allston Green in a November 29 Banker & Tradesman article, relating that “many developers initially were reluctant to participate in the pilot because the format has no track record among recent new construction in Boston. At first, the attitude was, ‘Let somebody else try it.’ Now, people are looking at it.”
